In 1990, Yellow Bike’s founders put together a safely guided bike tour to show visitors the highlights of our canal city, and in doing so, invented the city bike tour. Nowadays, this tour still exists – although in a modernised version. This is the original Amsterdam bike tour!

Amsterdam Highlights

Our local guides will share the unique story of the evolution of Amsterdam, riding along highlights such as:

• The world famous canals, we pass by the smallest house in Amsterdam- Its really small!
• The charming Jordaan quarter
• Anne Frank House, where she wrote her diary,
• Westerkerk
• Rijksmuseum,
• Vondelpark,
• The luxury P.C. Hooftstraat and antique district,
• The enchanting “Skinny Bridge” over Amstel river, the river that gave Amsterdam it’s name.

Duration: 2 hours, the route is about 7km. Level: Beginners with basic cycling skills.

Itinerary

The Amsterdam Highlights bike tour kicks off at Amsterdam’s oldest continuously inhabited square, right in the heart of what we as locals affectionately call ‘Mokum.’

We’ll start with a quick rundown of your bike and the essential traffic rules so everyone can ride safely and comfortably. By booking this tour, you’ll explore Amsterdam with a small, family-run company that’s deeply rooted in the city. We started city bike tours here, making this experience truly one-of-a-kind! We take it slow and easy, starting with a ride past some stunning 17th-century canal houses. Keep your eyes peeled – you’ll be challenged to spot the tiniest house in the city (we’ll reveal it, of course!) and learn about a former prison that once stood right in the city center.

Next, we’ll cycle by the Anne Frank House, where your guide will share more about her remarkable story. From there, we’ll drift through the charming Jordaan neighborhood before reaching the lively Leidseplein area—a square full of history, from music and nightlife to squatting and even crime.

Our ride continues into the beautiful Vondelpark, Amsterdam’s most famous green space. There’s so much to see here, it could easily be a tour on its own, full of fascinating stories.

Then we head towards Museumplein, the city’s museum hub, where your guide will point out highlights and give tips on which collections to visit. We’ll pass the luxury boutiques and antique shops along the high-end P.C. Hooftstraat, winding through canals until we reach the iconic Skinny ‘Love’ Bridge.

Finally, we’ll finish our journey along the picturesque Herengracht, and depending on the route, we might also pass Dam Square before returning to our headquarters near Central Station.
