How to rent a bike at Amsterdam Central Station
You can find our family company in 2 places in the city! Choose Central Station as rental location above. Open from 9 AM to 6 PM in low season, and until 8 pm in spring/summer. Or reserve a bike at our classic Old Town location, close to Dam Square. Yellow Bike old town is 5-minute walk from the station, and open from 9:30 AM to 5 PM.
Yellow Bike’s privacy friendly security deposit
Amsterdam bike rental, like most vehicle rental, comes with a security deposit for the bike. You will receive the deposit back upon the return of your bike. Most customers pay their security deposit via our payment link at the counter for €20,- per bike. Cash deposit is possible for €70,- per bike. See below for more information.
Some bike rentals in Amsterdam will ask for a copy of your ID, creditcard or drivers license. We will never copy identity documents or creditcards, as your privacy is important to us.
You pay for the rental upon the return of the bike. The deposit is then released back to your account, which may take 3-5 business days depending on your payment provider.

About our bikes
- We have several child seats available for an additional € 7,50 per rental (regardless of the rental duration)
- Bikes from XS to L. Because not everyone is the same length.
- Bike seats are adjustable.
- We have sturdy children’s bikes.
- Our rental bikes are fitted with a handbrake (front wheel) and a pedal brake for your safety.
- Our bikes are custom-made: lightweight but with a strong frame.
Park your bike only in designated bike parking areas and racks. Especially in the city center, forgetting to do so may result in the loss of your bike, because the City Council takes away bicycles on a daily basis.
Bike security deposit and insurance
Cash: €75,- per bike
Some bike rentals in Amsterdam will ask for a copy of your ID, creditcard or drivers license. We never copy identity documents or creditcards, as your privacy is important to us.
You can pay the security deposit in person at our location with a credit card or other online payment. The security deposit is handled at the desk and will be returned to you after returning the bike. We also accept payment forms such as Apple Pay. Upon return of the bike you will retrieve the security deposit back on your account – usually within 3-5 business days, depending on your payment provider. In case of theft or loss, our general terms apply and Yellow Bike may use the deposit to charge your account for compensation of the bicycle. In case of loss, always contact our office and return the keys. Insurance is only valid if your return your keys.
All bicycles are equipped with approved AXA locks, and you will receive an extra lock for every two bicycles. Multiple day rental usually gives you included insurance if you inform us of the multiple day rent upfront. Insurance lowers the cost of theft, loss and damage cost to an own risk of €60,-.
