What is Circusbende?

An annual Amsterdam Circus Festival! In 2025, you can attend from August 14-17 and 28-31. The festival will be held in Groene Veld in North and Erasmus Park in West, respectively. Circusbende Festival is a walk-in experience. On the grounds, you’ll find a free music program, a circus tent, circus stages, a tent with circus workshops, and all sorts of surprises. There are bars and kitchens. Some of the circus performances are ticketed, so you can buy tickets here. The other performances are donation-based, so you can decide how much you want to give. The atmosphere is always fun and child-friendly!

How do I get the €5 Circus Gang discount on bike rental?

You can rent a bike at a discount with or without a reservation. Here’s how it works.

No reservation, on spec:
1. Rent a bike for Circusbende at Yellow Bike. You can find us at Central Station, Ruijterkade 34b, near the tram 26 stop. Opening hours: 9:00 AM–8:00 PM.
2. Ride directly to one of the beautiful festival sites, whether you’re going to Groene Veld (Noord) or Erasmus Park.
3. When you return your bike, you’ll receive a €5 discount at checkout. Please clearly indicate that you would like the Circusbende discount!

Rent a bike with advance reservation:
1. Book the 3:00 PM bike rental titled “Voor bezoekers van Circusbende ” and reserve your bike.
Please note:
2. There is a small reservation fee online, which will slightly reduce the total discount.
3. Pick up your bike at Central Station (between 9:00 AM and 8:00 PM – your exact reservation time is irrelevant).

Yes, of course we also have child seats and smaller bikes, so the whole family can come along.

Opening hours of bike rental for Circusbende

Amsterdam Central Station: 9:00 AM–8:00 PM
Nieuwezijds Kolk: 9:00 AM–5:00 PM (reservations by email only).

Would you like to return your bike after closing time? You can do so by bringing it to Nieuwezijds Kolk. The only requirements are that you arrange this at the reception desk, pay the deposit digitally, and pay the rent in advance. We will then release the deposit the following day.

What other discounts are there?

Do you have a Stadspas (the social pass for inhabitants of Amsterdam)? Then you can attend one performance of your choice at a discount during the Circusbende Festival. You can order one ticket per Stadspas. CJP and Stadspas discounts are available upon presentation of a valid pass at the entrance. A valid pass is required for each ticket!
Discounts apply to children between the ages of three and twelve, to Stadspas holders, and to CJP members. Children under three are admitted free, provided the age limit allows it. Discounts cannot be stacked: only one type of discount can be applied per ticket.

Focusing on new circus, we organize the annual Circusbende Festival and related activities in Amsterdam’s public spaces. 1. Theatergroep WAK – Niets is echt moeilijk
A physical, humorous ode to futility, in which three men are locked together in a large wooden box. Full of self-mockery, vicarious embarrassment, and plenty of laughter. A bonus: one of the men is Bart, who has been concerned with working electrical outlets, running water, and lights since the very first festival.

2. Ilyari – zondag 17 augustus
Let yourself be carried away by Ilyari’s dreamy sounds and unique voice. Her performance is sure to be an atmospheric highlight and a perfect way to unwind between all the circus acts.

3. Humo Y Polvo – I Dreamed I Had Hairy Teeth
Morgane and Martina combine acrobatics and dance in a performance that is funny, strange, sometimes wild, but also honest and vulnerable. A unique blend of acrobatics and emotion, in which they express with their bodies what sometimes can’t be expressed in words. Language no problem
